Our strategy 2025-2027

Our 2025-2027 Strategy sets out our current priorities to make a difference for King's patients, especially those who are frail or at risk of being left behind.

Every day, King’s staff work wonders not only to save and enhance lives now, but to power the research and innovation that keeps care advancing. This incredible team counts on our support to take care further, going beyond what the NHS can provide to meet the needs of current and future patients. 

King's operates on a local and global scale, serving a cross-section of individuals across South East London from the very poorest, to the most affluent, as well as those travelling from further afield for its specialist treatment and care. 

Our 2025-2027 Strategy sets out our current priorities to make a difference for King's patients, especially those who are frail or at risk of being left behind. We will focus on four key objectives to guide our efforts, each aimed at making the greatest possible impact on King’s patients, their families, and staff.

Enhancing patient and visitor experience of our hospitals

  • Help to enhance patients and visitors’ journeys through hospital
  • Work with the Trust to enhance hospital facilities and services
  • Invest in the best support and care for patients
  • Help patients feel more connected
  • Invest in projects that prioritise the most vulnerable, disadvantaged, and frail patients
  • Support Trust staff with their wellbeing

Advancing treatments and care through research and innovation

  • We’ll enhance patient care by investing in technology-driven projects
  • We’ll invest in research projects
  • We’ll prioritise inclusivity
  • We'll develop new ways of delivering effective treatment
  • We’ll invest in additional training and tools for staff to help them deliver the very best care for their patients.

Raising funds to support the best possible care

  • Aim to significantly grow our fundraising
  • Grow our Philanthropy programme
  • Continue to work towards securing stable funding that we can use flexibly
  • Build awareness of our cause across our hospitals and beyond

Achieving our full potential to thrive

  • Build a strong foundation that drives excellence and growth within our team
  • Use technology and other tools such as AI
  • Build a sustainable income base and strengthen our financial reserves
  • Explore new revenue opportunities
  • Continue to uphold our values, fostering a culture that empowers our team
  • Continue to operate with honesty, accountability and transparency

Strategy principles

These are the four charity principles which underpin our work, and guide us in how we act. 

Rooted in local communities

The communities King's serves include some of the most affluent and the most deprived areas, some of the youngest and the oldest. Our strategy is built on the principle that our work must help King's build strong roots in these diverse communities. 

Leaving no-one behind

Serving diverse communities means it is vital to address inequality, both in terms of the socioeconomic determinants of health and barriers to access. Our strategy reflects the principle that our work must help King's dismantle these barriers.

Aligned with national, regional and local priorities

While we are an independent charity, we will make the biggest impact by working together towards shared goals. Our strategy underlines the importance of partnership with King's and with the wider health systems we influence.

Focused where we're uniquely placed to act

We're here to make possible the care, treatment and enhanced patient experience that King's would not be able to provide without our support. Our strategy seeks to focus on the unique difference we can make.
