The Great Hospital Hike 2024 - Debra's Story

Debra is walking the Great Hospital Hike as King's means the world to her and her family.

Debra is taking part in the Great Hospital Hike again this year, along with her husband, son, friends and work colleagues.

King's means so much to Debra and her family. Debra herself was born in King's College Hospital, as well as her son. Her Mum worked at King's College Hospital for 47 years and is just recently retired. When her Dad had a stroke, he was blue lit to King’s and taken care of by the Stroke team.

Debra works for the KFM team at King's and some of her colleagues will be taking part with Debra at this year's Hike as part of The KFM proclaimers.

King's has been in my life literally my whole life. I was born at King's College Hospital, my Mum worked at King's College Hospital for 47 years and is just recently retired. My son was born here and when my Dad had a stroke, he was blue lit to King’s and taken care of by the amazing Stroke team. So it's a hospital that's very close to my family's heart.

The whole experience is just so fulfilling. And I think that's what I'm looking forward to most, is just spending the day with the people that are closest to me and giving something back to the hospital that obviously means the world to me.
