The Great Hospital Hike 2024 - Clare's Story

Clare walked this year's Great Hospital Hike as a thank you to the staff at King's.

Clare had a liver transplant at King's two years ago and walked the Great Hospital Hike as a way of thanking the numerous staff she interacted with at the hospital and to her liver donor.

When Clare was in the outpatients department before her surgery, she saw posters for the previous Great Hospital Hikes and was inspired to take part once fully recovered.

Clare enjoyed the Hike itself and thought it was an amazing experience, enjoying walking through built-up areas and the change of scenery through numerous parks.

I think for me, it's the people, that might sound like a cliché, but the people at King’s have always been so wonderful. There's just so many people, and I wish I knew them all by name. I wish I could say thank you to them all personally.

Doing something like the Hike feels like a very small thing, but some kind of gesture to say thank you publicly to all of those people that maybe don't realise what an impact they've had on me.
