In less than two months, Ronnie will clock 26 miles in aid of a cause that’s very close to his heart. King’s has served three generations of Ronnie’s family through life's ups and downs. From treating his mother for Tuberculosis to providing palliative care for the final moments of his grandparents' life, to being the place where Ronnie took his first breaths - for his family, life’s milestone moments have all taken place under King’s roof.
Feeling indebted to the wonderful staff at King’s and their unwavering care throughout the years, Ronnie is determined to give something back. His experience of King’s extends beyond being a patient. Having worked as a pharmacist at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) since 2016, Ronnie has been inspired by the ethos of hard work and goodwill shared by everyone who works there. Every day, King’s staff go the extra mile for their patients. What better way for Ronnie to give back than going the extra mile for King’s?
Ronnie started as a relatively inexperienced runner during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, his mileage and stamina has soared, and he is ready to take on the capital's most iconic running event. Ronnie’s success has been a team effort from the King’s community. From the physio and podiatry departments who have helped him avoid injury, to the colleagues cheering for him on race day, Ronnie has been supported every step of the way.
Ronnie is raising money for the incredible King’s Volunteer Service, which is supported by King’s College Hospital Charity. Volunteers play a vital role in improving the experience of patients and relieving pressure on frontline staff. Ronnie said:
Ronnie is hoping to raise £2,000 for the King’s Volunteer Service – but he really can’t do it alone. It’s time to channel the King’s spirit and go the extra mile for Ronnie. Any donation, however small or big, will go a long way in helping Ronnie hit his target.
Best of luck Ronnie!
