King's Volunteers step up to the challenge

King's College Hospital Charity is incredibly proud to support the King's Volunteer Programme. So it makes us doubly proud that the King's Volunteers are now banding together to support King's College Hospital Charity!

King's Volunteers add a personal touch to all corners of our hospitals. Over 500 people give their time to support our hospitals in a range of volunteer roles, some of which have decided to take their commitment to King's to the next level by taking on a series of fundraising challenges.

"We are embarking on a year-long campaign to shine a spotlight on King's Volunteer Services, engage with our volunteers, and raise money for our home away from home" says Luke Palmer.

"The volunteer service wouldnt be able to have the impact we have without the support of King's College Hospital Charity.

"Charity support enables us to maximise the patient experience, and recruit and support our orange army of volunteers!"

Kicking off their campaign is Kirsty, who is leading the group's first challenge. Kirsty volunteers at King's College Hospital two days a week. She is a former patient of King's, and is no stranger to fundraising for King's College Hospital Charity.

"We are planning to collectively walk 500 miles through the month of November," says Kirsty.

"In the summer, I organised an NHS tea party and raised money for Charles Polkey ward and this time, I wanted to go one step further.

"Myself and a few other volunteers suggested we raise money for the hospital through a walking challenge and here we are!"

Volunteers play a vital role in improving the experience of patients and relieving pressure on frontline staff. #TeamKings wouldn't be the same without volunteers selflessly giving up their time.
