Georgia's story

The Fieldsend family lost their beloved daughter Georgia in 2013 after she suffered from a fatal brain aneurysm on 25 December. Through donating her own organs, Georgia has saved several lives and brought those children and their families such hope and happiness. What's more, Georgia's family has raised over £40,000 to raise awareness of organ donation, in gratitude for the exceptional staff at Thomas Cook Children's Critical Care Unit at King's College Hospital.

In loving memory of Georgia

On Christmas Day 2013, three-year-old Georgia Fieldsend had been on holiday with her family when she suffered a fatal brain aneurysm.  One minute she was paddling in the sea, the next she had collapsed at the shoreline on the way back to the hotel.

She was taken to the local hospital and then air-lifted to King’s College Hospital, but the team were unable to save her.

In the middle of profound shock and grief, Georgia’s parents Ilse and James made the difficult decision to donate their precious daughter’s organs. In this way, Georgia went on to save the lives of four children and allow two young men to have their sight.

Determined to turn their grief into the gift of life, the Fieldsends continue to fundraise for seriously unwell children and raise awareness of the importance of organ donation to keep saving lives.

The Georgia Sandy Fieldsend fund has raised nearly £40,000 for unwell children. Please donate today to keep taking care further in Georgia’s memory.
