In February 2021, Lisa, was taken to King's College Hospital in a critical condition. She had suffered a severe brain injury, fractured skull, and had a bleed on the brain.
"It was by far the most frightening moment of my life," says Eleanor.
"We were told my mum would not make it as the damage to her brain was so severe."
Lisa was placed in a medically induced coma while King's staff worked around the clock to save her life. Unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions prevented Eleanor and her family from visiting Lisa, but King's staff kept the family's line of communication open by utilising the ward's Charity funded electronic tablets.
"The amazing team on the Thomas Cook ICU Ward gave us means of communication through an electronic tablet that allowed us to speak to mum every day to try and wake her," remembers Eleanor.
"We were kept up to date, not just daily, but hourly by the team. They even asked for Mum's favourite nail varnish to paint her nails whilst she was asleep!

In April, Lisa was discharged from King's and allowed to continue her recovery in the comfort of her home. Inspired by the King's extraordinary commitment to her mother, Eleanor signed up to fundraise for King's College Hospital Charity.
On April 5th, Eleanor celebrated her mum's amazing recovery by jumping out of a plane and skydiving over 12,000 feet. She's raised over £500 for King's which will help to ensure King's College Hospital Charity can continue to fund tablet computers in the hospital's ICU, and keep families in contact with their loved ones.
"After being told we would be saying goodbye to our gorgeous mum we were shocked at the fight King's staff gave to bring her back to us," says Eleanor.
