Jo's story

Jo is running the London Landmarks Half Marathon again on behalf of her son who had a liver transplant at King's.

Jo's son Arthur was treated at King's and had a liver transplant to cure a rare genetic disorder called OTC (Ornithine Transcarbamylase Deficiency).

To save his life, Arthur’s dad, James, bravely donated 20% of his liver.

Arthur was admitted to King's for his liver transplant and was in recovery on his first birthday, making it a significant day for his family. He was discharged three weeks later.

Jo was in hospital with Arthur for a month, and is deeply grateful for the compassionate care and facilities they offered the family during that time.

Jo loved running the London Landmarks Half Marathon last year and is looking forward to taking part again in 2025.

King's will forever mean so much for us. They still take such great care of us with all of our check-ins and overseeing Arthur's health. And we are constantly grateful for everything they did.

My husband was able to donate part of his liver to save Arthur's life and to cure him of this very rare genetic disorder, which is incredible.
