The Great Hospital Hike - John Paul's Story

Everyone has their own special story for taking part in the Great Hospital Hike.  John-Paul is walking in appreciation of the King's Neurological team for saving his life.

In July 2020, John-Paul suffered an unexpected seizure and was taken to hospital, where scans detected a brain tumour. From that point onwards he was referred to King's Neuro department, whose outstanding team cared for him throughout the whole journey up until the present day.

John-Paul had surgery to remove the tumour, and spent a total of sixteen days under an NHS suspended ceiling, at King's on Denmark Hill followed by rehab in Orpington.

"I’m grateful for the big and the small acts of kindness and compassion I received along the way, and to the neurosurgical team who continue to amaze my tiny mind (even smaller now!) with what they do every day."
"I owe the team a whole lifetime of thanks for the care that I received, and I’m starting with this hike. I’m hoping to get a few people involved on Saturday 17th September for the 18 miles from Denmark Hill to Bromley. Anything you can contribute to raise some money for the incredible King's College Hospital Charity would be much appreciated."
